Bridging the gap: connecting your wallet to Albedo with Scopuly

This guide will walk you through the process of connecting your existing Stellar wallet to the Albedo platform using Scopuly. Albedo functions as a bridge or intermediary, allowing various Stellar apps to securely interact with your account without requiring your private key.

Understanding Albedo:

Albedo prioritizes security and user control. It does not store your private key and works without access to your sensitive data.
It acts as a permission manager, allowing you to authorize Stellar apps (like Scopuly) to request transaction signing or identity verification on your behalf.
This way, you can use your single Stellar account across a wide range of Stellar-based applications.
Albedo is open source and free to use.

Steps to connect your wallet to Albedo (via Scopuly):

Visit the Scopuly home page:

First, go to the Home page. You can also access it directly through this link: https://scopuly.com/home.

Start connecting:

Find the “Connect” button on the Scopuly home page.
Click on this button to continue.

Select Albedo:

After clicking the “Connect” button, you will see a list of available connection options.
Select “Albedo” from the list.

Select an account import method:

You will now be presented with two options to import your account:

Create a new Aldebo account: This option is suitable if you haven’t used Albedo before and you don’t have an existing Stellar wallet.

Import an account: This option allows you to connect an existing Stellar account using its private key.

Understanding the role of Albedo:

A new window will appear that explains Albedo’s functionality and security principles.
This information emphasizes that Albedo:
Does not store your private key or have access to your funds.
Works as a bridge, allowing applications (such as Scopuly) to request your permission for transactions.
Prioritizes user control and open source transparency.

Once you have familiarized yourself with this information, click “Proceed>>” to continue.

Here we will focus on importing an existing account:

Import an existing account (using the private key):

Click the “Import Account” button.

A field will appear prompting you to enter the private key.

(Security Reminder): Handle the private key very carefully. Never give it to anyone or any website. Once you have securely entered your private key, click the “Next” button.

Customize your Albedo password:

Create a strong and memorable password for your Albedo account. This password will be different from your Scopuly login credentials.

Confirm your Scopuly account:

You will see a message prompting you to confirm the use of your Scopuly account.
Click the “Confirm using MyAccount” button.

Enter the password created for your Albedo account in the field provided.

The connection is successful:

After successful confirmation, you will receive a message that your wallet has been successfully connected to Albedo via Scopuly.
Congratulations. You have now connected your Stellar wallet to Albedo, providing a more universal experience in the Stellar ecosystem. Remember that security is a priority and never share your private key with unauthorized parties.
